From [livejournal.com profile] memeseveriwhere:

List your top ten (10) favorite characters from a single anime fandom (whoops, didn't read that quite closely enough), and answer the following questions.

(You know what? I'm gonna go with multiple fandoms. It's more fun that way.)
1 - The Middleman
2 - Mal Reynolds
3 - Elizabeth Burke
4 - Claude Rains
5 - Veronica Palmer
6 - Granny Weatherwax
7 - Michael Weston
8 - Olivia Dunham
9 - Amy Pond
10 - Sherlock Holmes

Some weird stuff under this cut, my friends. )

It's been ages since I did one of these... From [livejournal.com profile] fannish5:

Name your 5 favorite fictional marriages.

I tried to go for couples that were together before and during their respective canons. )

It was way easier to come up with my second list: my favorite heterosexual life partners. )

So begins the cooking/writing weekend. With me doing a [livejournal.com profile] fannish5 meme, instead of writing a fic or cooking dinner. Oops. Anyway, I've got another thing I'm looking forward to in the next couple days besides stew and cookies and hopefully some fics- USA is airing its feature-length film all about the backstory of Sam Axe from Burn Notice on Sunday! Bruce Campbell is starring in his own made-for-TV movie, and not one of those stinky scifi affairs I'm sure he's done a few of! I'm so happy for him. *tear*

Owww...

*sigh* So an average/good day has taken a turn for the crappy. I was trying to defrost some chicken for dinner and managed to burn my righthand ring and middle finger. I'm plucking this out with my left hand while the other holds on to a towel with ice. It's kind of amazing how much the cold helps. It's seriously like "*take the cold away, wait two seconds* !@#@$##$@!@Oooowwww! *put the cold back on* Ahhh..." And I'm waiting for some painkillers to kick in. I wonder how it's going to be working tomorrow...

Anywho, I had other stuff to talk about, but now that my words per minute has been so effectively hobbled, let's just focus on what's important, eh?

'Reply and I'll give you four fandoms. You then have to make an entry writing about your favorite character from each fandom, and why.'

[livejournal.com profile] hermione_vader gave me Discworld, Burn Notice, Dollhouse, and Sherlock.

Not easy choices, any of these. Some spoilers )

Heh, I'm worried about work tomorrow- how am I going to sleep with this damn thing? My ice cubes are going away and it still hurts like hell. *sigh* I guess I'll figure something out.

Hee, fandom-y dreams, start your morning off right!

Okay, so, clearly the pics [livejournal.com profile] visiblemarket linked last evening pretty thoroughly infected my brain, because I'm pretty sure I was Kate from White Collar in this dream. I dunno, I was certainly holding hands with a strangely scruffy Neal Caffrey enough. Also not really surprisingly, a CE character was with us. I didn't get a solid confirmation of what CE character, but I'm going to go with Claude. Claude was looking very scruffy as well, probably three-quarters of the way to his S1 look. Anyway, we three were conning our way into a fancy restaurant- well, Neal and Claude were, I seemed to be mostly along for the ride. I think Claude got in by impersonating some eccentric and world-famous professor, and Neal his prodigous assistant (who morphed into Joseph Gordon-Levitt for a brief instant- Neal the shapeshifter? That would explain some things). Anyway, we all sat down on one side of a table, and there was an older woman sitting on the other side, possibly played by Vanessa Redgrave (I've been catching the same five minutes of Mission Impossible on TV lately). I think she was hiring Neal and Claude to do some con- I wasn't really paying attention because the hand-holding was somewhat distracting, and also I was busy reading about the really expensive tea selection on the menu.

And then the dream morphed into Michael Weston from Burn Notice helping a family rob a bank and not having the best of luck with it, and I think the teenage daughter might have been played by the same girl who did Alex from Lost. Since I watched the season finale of Burn Notice last night, this part of the dream is also kind of annoyingly explicable. And then I was on a busy street and there were people dressed like the Stig- not everyone, just a few. I was delighted.

And now I'm off to work. But hey, the Renaissance Festival is gearing up this weekend! I think after this busy week I'd prefer to sit out the opening, but next weekend I'm totally there. Anyone want to come?

You know, I don't think it's possible to write a fic without any "backstory" as the meme describes it. What on earth can the characters talk about if you don't give them something to do?

Title: The Petrelli Heist

A/N: Set pre-series for both shows.

You really wanna know? )

Title: Sub-Contracting
Rating: PG
Word Count: 649
Summary: Michael Westen and Claude Rains for [livejournal.com profile] englishmuffin2. Off-screen Sam and Fiona.
A/N: Set during the series for Burn Notice, but pre-series for Heroes. Which.. doesn't really work, temporally speaking, but oh well.

All right, let's see a demonstration, then. )

Title: An Arrangement of Time
Rating: G
Word Count: 444
Summary: Simon Tam and Rube for [livejournal.com profile] c_quinn, plus River.
A/N: Okay, River stuck her nose in and kind of stole the show (which I'm sure Simon's used to). If you want to, [livejournal.com profile] c_quinn, please give me another prompt and I'll try again.

That makes you S. Tam, right? )

My calendar and DVD came! Yay! All... well, more is right with the world. Now I'm just wondering about my Microsoft Office software. Would've expected that to get here real quick. Anyway, reviving a meme, because it's a very fun one:

- Write a list of characters and number them.
- Input the number of characters into this random number generator as the maximum and generate two numbers.
- Ramble about how the corresponding pairing/partnership/general interaction would (or, indeed, wouldn't) work. Perhaps write a snippet/one-sentence fic for it if you're feeling brave.
- Repeat to your heart's content.

Okay, one last thing before I'm incommunicado until Saturday. A meme snatched away from [livejournal.com profile] visiblemarket:

List 10 platonic male/female relationships in fiction that you enjoy.

Rules:

1. They interact in canon, preferably in a significant (apply your own interpretation of such) way.
2. They are not related. They can, however, view each other as surrogate family.
3. Neither has confessed or implied romantic love for the other in canon.
4. They have not dated, been married, had sex, or made out in canon, on purpose, and of their own free will.
5. A popular fanon ship is ok (though preferably not your ship) but a canon pairing you wish were just friends is out.
6. Try to avoid using the same character or series twice.

I've got a lot of 'partners in crime' type dynamics going on here... )

Eee, I got my assignments for [livejournal.com profile] remixthedrabble today. I'm really excited to do them- not least because for one of my optional remixes I got a familiar name. Not someone I've talked to, but someone who I know writes high-quality stuff. So, eee... XD

I was re-watching the pilot of Burn Notice the other day, and discovered that Reaper's Ray Wise and Dexter's David Zayas are both in it. That is, the Devil and Detective Sargeant Angel Batista. The Devil, and Angel. Oh yeah, a seriously awesome crossover must come of this. I also really want to write about Dead Like Me's Rube visiting Pushing Daisies' Pie Hole, ever since they mentioned Happy Time Temp Agency on the latter show, and anyway we know Bryan Fuller is all about mixing up characters among his shows. Goodness, I love when they do that, so very much.

Speaking of Ray Wise (remember? Before the tangent about Bryan Fuller shows), does the guy who plays Papa Petrelli on Heroes remind anyone else of our favorite incarnation of pure evil? Honestly, they could be brothers- the salt and pepper hair, the cold blue eyes, the suit.. the mobster-ish villainy. Heh, as if the Petrelli clan needed to be any more f-ed up than it already is, but think of the fics!

Other Awesome Crossovers [livejournal.com profile] visiblemarket And I Have Come Up With But Aren't Currently Writing That I Just Want To Have Written Down Somewhere So I Don't Forget About Them Because They're That Awesome:
-Claude and House (transcontinental cousins FTW)
-Middleman and Aziraphale (and Crowley- how hard a time do you think MM would have coming to grips with The Arrangement?)
-Shawn Spencer and Capt. Jack Harkness (primarily the star-crossed romance of Shawn and Jack's Coat)
lotus0kid: (spooky!Tyler)
Yet Another Blanket Disclaimer: The Middleman and Burn Notice belong to their respective creators.

Title: The Dwarfish Berserker Incident
Rating: PG
Word Count: 830
Summary: Done for a Middleman comment-fic meme. My very first attempt at Middlefic, actually.

Doberman’s Pinschers, what a beautiful battleaxe! )

Title: The Perfect Sandwich
Rating: G
Word Count: 517
Summary: Done for [livejournal.com profile] bringthehappy's Happyfest. The prompt was Burn Notice ; Sam ; deli ; G. Also a fic-first for me.

Why don’t you tell me all about your little art and we’ll see how much I absorb? )

Arrrgh. I've had a long day, I'm sleepy, I'm moving into my new dorm tomorrow, and my folks won't vacate the living room, which is where I'm sleeping tonight. I shouldn't even be here, I should've stayed home. Mom's selling the house in a few months, I need to enjoy it while it's there. *sigh* Well, they're old, how long could they stay up?

Anyway, uh, there was other stuff I wanted to say, I'm sure there was.

Burn Notice was really good on Thursday. Jeffrey Donovan got to do some fun comedy stuff this time around. I think this is one of the few episodes I rewound to watch certain parts a second time because they were so funny. Bruce Campbell remains the pillar of awesome that he always has been. (BTW, heard news about an Evil Dead 4- sweeeeet.)

Oh, and Eureka. Let's all have a moment of silence for the many bereaved Nathan/Jack 'shippers. Half of their pairing got dissolved into photons on Tuesday. Sorry, guys, it was a very pretty pairing. Heck, I was almost starting to see it myself, last couple episodes. In any case, loved seeing Alan Ruck in "Best in Faux." He was adorable.

I kind of really want this book, it looks hilarious and I really enjoyed her other book, Stiff. However, I'm not brave enough to track it down and bring it to the register in a book store, and I'm a little nervous about what it might do to my Recommendations page if I get it from Amazon. Seriously, my friend got a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles gift for someone and her Recommendations page was instantly flooded with TMNT merchandise. I'd rather not find out what happens when you order a book about sex and science.
