A day of firsts!

I just got back from my very first yoga class that my aunt took me to. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be sore as hell in a little while, but overall it was cool. The class was a mix of easy and advanced techniques- there's a beginners' class on Mondays I'm tempted to take up. It'd be nice to get some of my old flexibility back, and just maybe get in better shape as well.
And early this morning, I felt my very first mothereffing earthquake! This weird rumbling woke me up around 5am, and at the time I was too sleepy to think much about it. I think "earthquake.. stand in a door frame..?" might've crossed my mind, along with "maybe a low-flying airplane" and "just a dream." Then my aunt commented on it as we were leaving for the class. So, that happened. You know, between this and the damn Icelandic volcano...

Date: 2010-07-16 04:58 pm (UTC)Seriously! I mean, everywhere gets microquakes, but not stuff you feel! And DC is actually in the middle of a plate, so yeah, they are extremely rare. I've heard stand in a doorframe, or get under a heavy piece of furniture so stuff doesn't fall on you (though if the floor falls, you're pretty much screwed anyway).

Date: 2010-07-17 03:57 am (UTC)Also, I'm glad you're around, so I don't have to make a separate post that's nothing but "Inception, dude. Dude, Inception. No really- INCEPTION OMG."

Date: 2010-07-17 03:58 am (UTC)Hee. Was that a good "OMG INCEPTION"?

Date: 2010-07-17 04:00 am (UTC)Inception is like... if I may continue a metaphor, a five-course meal to, say, Twilight's packet of Sweet N' Low.

Date: 2010-07-17 04:03 am (UTC)Mmm, that does sound good.

Date: 2010-07-17 04:09 am (UTC)It is. Highly cerebral, while not leaving the audience behind as long as they're paying attention. And visually gorgeous as well. They even manage to get in a good joke or two. You can even entertain yourself with a slashy element, I know I did.

Date: 2010-07-17 04:10 am (UTC)Heh, is it sad that I twigged to the slashy element from the trailers? I will try and catch it at some point. I dunno if I'll have time this week.

Date: 2010-07-17 04:18 am (UTC)Between Leonardo DiCaprio and Joseph Gordon-Levitt's characters? Heh, yeah, I started out with them too, but I think there's another pairing I leaned to more (and will probably try to write trippy fic for, oh dear).

Date: 2010-07-17 04:19 am (UTC)Hee! Well then I'll have to watch it!

Date: 2010-07-17 04:24 am (UTC)Heh, well, there's definitely a boat load more there than the slash, but yeah. Now if I could just remember the title I came up with in the theater... it was freaking perfect, what was it..?

Date: 2010-07-17 04:26 am (UTC)Oh, well, naturally, the slash is secondary. Tertiary even. Hah! Yeah, titles...I've given up on titles altogether. Just song lyrics from now on.

Date: 2010-07-17 04:36 am (UTC)I definitely need to see it again, for the primary, secondary, and even tertiary reasons. I think it was a song lyric, actually- but something obscure enough and not as obviously about dreams as so many other options... Maybe it wasn't a lyric... Jeez, this is gonna kill me.

Date: 2010-07-17 01:33 pm (UTC)Good luck with yoga! I'm tempted to try a real class, but still feeling intimidated. You're really cool for doing that.

Date: 2010-07-17 05:43 pm (UTC)Oy, I am paying for it now, in places I've never paid for exercise before. But I should probably keep going if I can.

I felt my very first mothereffing earthquake!
I hope there was no damage done?

Date: 2010-07-18 03:55 pm (UTC)Oh no, no damage. It was a rumble, lasted about five seconds tops.
