I just got back from my very first yoga class that my aunt took me to. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be sore as hell in a little while, but overall it was cool. The class was a mix of easy and advanced techniques- there's a beginners' class on Mondays I'm tempted to take up. It'd be nice to get some of my old flexibility back, and just maybe get in better shape as well.

And early this morning, I felt my very first mothereffing earthquake! This weird rumbling woke me up around 5am, and at the time I was too sleepy to think much about it. I think "earthquake.. stand in a door frame..?" might've crossed my mind, along with "maybe a low-flying airplane" and "just a dream." Then my aunt commented on it as we were leaving for the class. So, that happened. You know, between this and the damn Icelandic volcano...

I've been tempted to take up yoga. But I just think I need to get back in shape in general before I start going to any type of class. *really needs to stop being lazy*

I didn't even know that Maryland got earthquakes! *laughs* I have no idea what you're supposed to do in an earthquake. Is it stand in a doorframe?

Well, I'd say the class would be good for getting back in shape in general. Especially a beginners class, where you can get stuff wrong and take all the breaks you need. But, yeah, the lovely laziness has to be given up first.

Seriously! I mean, everywhere gets microquakes, but not stuff you feel! And DC is actually in the middle of a plate, so yeah, they are extremely rare. I've heard stand in a doorframe, or get under a heavy piece of furniture so stuff doesn't fall on you (though if the floor falls, you're pretty much screwed anyway).

*laughs* My mother (who stayed in Maryland) felt it and called us this morning about it. Apparently she was cool with it (she lived in Mexico City for like 10 years), but my dog freaked out.

It was just weird. I had myself like 80% convinced it didn't even happen, and then my aunt was like, "So, did you feel the earthquake this morning?" Bizarre. I hope like hell it doesn't happen again.

Also, I'm glad you're around, so I don't have to make a separate post that's nothing but "Inception, dude. Dude, Inception. No really- INCEPTION OMG."

*laughs* I don't know what I would've done. I've never felt one, even when I spent more time in Mexico.

Hee. Was that a good "OMG INCEPTION"?

I basically just rolled over and went back to sleep. If it had been worse, though...

Inception is like... if I may continue a metaphor, a five-course meal to, say, Twilight's packet of Sweet N' Low.

Heh. I probably wouldn't have even woken up.

Mmm, that does sound good.

That's what the yoga teacher did. She said she only fouund out it happened when she went on Facebook.

It is. Highly cerebral, while not leaving the audience behind as long as they're paying attention. And visually gorgeous as well. They even manage to get in a good joke or two. You can even entertain yourself with a slashy element, I know I did.

It wasn't even on the news here, I was surprised.

Heh, is it sad that I twigged to the slashy element from the trailers? I will try and catch it at some point. I dunno if I'll have time this week.

Hm, well, it really wasn't that big. 3.6, 3.9 at the biggest.

Between Leonardo DiCaprio and Joseph Gordon-Levitt's characters? Heh, yeah, I started out with them too, but I think there's another pairing I leaned to more (and will probably try to write trippy fic for, oh dear).

Still, further proof that the world hates and is trying to kill us should make news.

Hee! Well then I'll have to watch it!

I'm kind of hoping it turns up on The Daily Show, but I doubt it.

Heh, well, there's definitely a boat load more there than the slash, but yeah. Now if I could just remember the title I came up with in the theater... it was freaking perfect, what was it..?

From: [identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com
Probably not; they're off next week too and it'll be old news by then.

Oh, well, naturally, the slash is secondary. Tertiary even. Hah! Yeah, titles...I've given up on titles altogether. Just song lyrics from now on.

Lame. Oh well, there really isn't anything to say about it.

I definitely need to see it again, for the primary, secondary, and even tertiary reasons. I think it was a song lyric, actually- but something obscure enough and not as obviously about dreams as so many other options... Maybe it wasn't a lyric... Jeez, this is gonna kill me.

I definitely didn't notice any earthquake - I don't think we got much of anything at all here, farther north. I woke up suddenly around 5am one night this week, but I've been sleeping poorly in general so I can't even separate which night it was, haha.

Apparently the epicenter was around Gaithersburg. If I knew where that was, it would be more helpful.

I heard about the DC quake and thought of you! I'm glad it was minor.

Good luck with yoga! I'm tempted to try a real class, but still feeling intimidated. You're really cool for doing that.

Yeah, earthquakes are up there with tornadoes on the list of things I never ever want to experience in their extremes, so yeah. Hrm.

Oy, I am paying for it now, in places I've never paid for exercise before. But I should probably keep going if I can.

If you enjoyed it, you should take the class. :)

I felt my very first mothereffing earthquake!

I hope there was no damage done?

I'd like to... but it's probably money I shouldn't be spending, and also it's in the morning. If I get a full-time job, which I've been trying to do, that would put a pretty firm end to it.

Oh no, no damage. It was a rumble, lasted about five seconds tops.
