Yeah, I made it. Sprinted through the morning, did the ceremony, snapsnapsnapicturepicturepicture, limped back to the suite on torn feet (bad shoe choice, brought it on myself), finished packing, then into the car and home! I'm going to dinner with Dad's side of the family in a few minutes, which'll be nice. After that... who knows? Honestly, I've been so focused on getting through graduation weekend, I haven't spared a thought to the after part beyond the very general "Get a job. Move the heck out of my mom's house before she sells it." I'm really hoping I can have a few days' grace to chill out, unpack a little. I'll have to unpack some, since my packing process has left me completely clueless as to where any of my stuff actually is. There are bags, boxes, and suitcases- don't ask me what's shoved in where. I kind of gives me a headache.

Anyway, I'm beat, but.. happy, I guess. Congrats, Class of '09!

CONGRATULATIONS! I would past you a copy of the "Graduation speech" I wrote for our Class of 2009 but that one is, um, depressing and not terribly sincere. And you deserve better! So. Congratulations, have a great rest of the day, and get some sleep!

Editing several hours later to let you know what I'm blaming you for right now. Which is that I bought the Rifle's Great Escape and all the songs are Plaudey or at least Claude-y (one is Claude and Sarah-y), so, you know, thanks for that ;)

THANKS! I did sleep, until stupid allergies woke me up at four, and then my mom woke me up again at nine to tell me I should wake up. Just in case she wants me to do.. something. *sigh* It's a a whirlwind of excitement, this post-grad life.

"Out in the Past" is totally Claude and Sarah, isn't it? I knew it ^^. TBH, I don't see much Plaude in the rest, except maybe "Winter Calls." Though it really doesn't fit when you think about it, "The General" still says Major West to me.

Yeah, allergies are no fun. Half the people in the library at present are sniffling, and I think about half of those are due to allergies. Of course knowing my luck the other half probably have swine flu. I shouldn't joke about that. If it makes you feel any better, most of my upcoming summer life is going to be spent getting woken up/waking myself up at seven-ish. Which yes, isn't that early, but...I like my sleep...

It is indeed. I may have had a bit too much finals brain when I decided they were all Plaudey. But I still think quite a few are. And I actually agree with you about "The General". Very much, really. Oh, Henry.

They're particularly bad this year, can't say why. My throat never itched before. It's a little worrying, TBH. Ugh, I despise waking up to an alarm. Though, still, getting up for a job in a bookstore would be at least somewhat worth it.

*feels smart*. Heh, well, of all the side effects of finals, I think I'd like that the best. It would probably fit better if he survived 28 Days Later, I dunno. I do love that image though: "When he was younger he could rumble like a hurricane."

I think it's because it's been so damn rainy lately. It encourages the growth of grass, flowers, and mold, which are the big allergy provokers. Mmm, the waking up to an alarm for a job in a bookstore in my experience isn't actually so bad. Because if you work the opening shift, you mostly shelve and only deal with people for about an hour. Which I enjoy.

You know me so well ;) "For the Meantime" isn't so much Plaude as just about any good relationship, in a way, but it just really fit something I'd written recently, so it's now a Plaude song as well. And "I Could Never Lie" might not be entirely gender appropriate and altogether too bouncy to come from Claude's POV, but I could see a little of the loving someone but being unwilling/unable to tell them properly. The General has that line about "standing like a puddle in the pouring rain" and that reminds me of West's scene when he drives off after Jim sets off the alarm, right before he dies. And the rest of it is also very West. Of course I also got a Company Man (just in general, forgive the pun) song. Be it Ivan, Thompson, Bennet, or even Company!Claude. Something about it felt that way.

Hm, you're probably right. Oooh, that sounds like a lovely way to spend a morning!

Don't I just? "For the Meantime"- that song.. It's good, but it's also kind of sappy, isn't it? It kind of comes out of nowhere, since none of the other songs are that unremittingly happy, I dunno. I have a hard time ignoring the pronoun business, but I think "I Could Never Lie" does work for Claude. Hmmm, "The General" for various Company Men... Yeah, that's good.

My allergies usually hit in the fall, but even I'm a little stuffed up right now. It is, especially because the customers get there, you're even allowed to have your iPod on, so you get to listen to music and put the books away and everything. It's nice.

You do. It's a little scary. Yeah, "For the Meantime" is pretty darn sappy, although I think there's an undercurrent of uncertainty about just how stable the relationship in question is that makes it a little less so. Almost like they're trying really hard to believe that it's going to work. Or I may just be projecting ;) But it's true, most of the other songs are, if not darker, at least more cynical. Hee, I always have trouble with the pronoun business myself, but it's not like Peter's not totally a girl in most ways. He's got government documents proving it! One of these days I'll make a "Company Men" song. I can already think of a couple (three, okay, three) songs that fit it.

I'd feel better about it if it was normal allergy stuff- not this horribly itchy throat that wakes me up at night. Ahhh, sounds like heaven.

Nah, it just means you communicated Sarah's relationship with Claude so well in your fics that I can tell when a song sounds like them. Mm, I feel that way about "Geeks in Love" from the nerdy song mix. It's sweet and cheery, but there's an undercurrent of "trying too hard." Aww, Peter's not a girl despite so much compelling evidence to the contrary! Oooh, that sounds like a great idea.

Well, I hear good things about Benadryl and have always sworn by Claritin and Sudafed myself. If not it's really best to go to the doctor, really. It really is. That's what a job at a bookstore should be. Shelving and listening to music. I could even put up with shelving the computer books, which is a section that is generally hell.

Uh-huh. Flatterer ;) Although actually I think that's one of the best comments ever paid to me for a fic. Because something's not real until there's songs that remind you of it. Aww, Geeks in Love certainly does have that feeling of someone protesting too much. But I just chalk that down to geeks having a general tendency to not be very good with relationships so even if it is the "right" one they'll still be unsure of how to act in it. Not that I'm, um, projecting. There's also the fact that people of the geeky persuasion are a little less sure of how to show affection, because they don't want to follow the chocolate and roses stereotypes so much. No, he's not, I suppose. He's very manly when he's being half naked and doused with water. Just at all other times...there are questions. Mmm, maybe I'll...remember to do it later.

Ye-eah, I've got some Benadryl to take tonight, and my mom's been making noises about getting me some Claritin. Funny you should mention Sudafed- that's my mom's drug of choice for pretty much any ailment under the sun. I would love to do that, it even makes the OCD side of me happy with all the alphabetization. Man... they're not hiring over there, are they? I'm totally cool with relocating.

It's the 100% truth. Otherwise, how could I have known it was "Out in the Past" you were thinking of? That's about what I figure too, I mean, the song is all about how geeky couples are different from regular couples. Mm, yes, and he's very manly with a big ol' scar across his face, dressed in black, and flinging cannon fodder around with his TK. But then that stops and he goes back to being angsty at his beard girlfriend Niki. Woohoo!

Sudafed is fantastic. Got me through middle and high school. But it's so much harder to get these days and I seem to have grown out of the major allergic reactions I used to have. Well, I'm sure there's a BN around where you are, but the fact is they're just about always hiring. The trick is getting into the right pile with applications. I started as seasonal, because they always need more people in winter and summer, but I was pretty lucky 'cause there's always an influx of college/high school students who want jobs then. But with references and stuff...

Well, you might have some freaky brain power that picked up on what I was thinking. Although that seems unlikely. In my experience geeky couple are about as annoying as non-geeky couples, just in a different way. But I'm not bitter. *snerk* Badass future Peter always just makes me laugh. Actually, that's not true. I Am Become Death Peter is just the right kind of sad and wounded and ready to admit what an idiot he used to be/still is to make me not laugh. 5YG Peter is a different story altogether. A big teenager of a story. And I hate the slicked back hair, he's so angsty and yet he has the time to invest in hair gel and do...whatever the hell that is to it. *cough* Poor Niki. Either stuck with an obviously gay disinterested boyfriend in an awful future, or dead.

Sudafed's harder to find now? Lame. There is a BN not far away. I got as far into the hiring process as interviewing once, but I think they got wind that I was planning to bail on them in a month, so that was that. But I do have a reference now, not to mentions a gorram BA in English... Well, still, I shouldn't be aiming for retail anyway. And the store's actually a little too close to home in a way, since home will be gone by fall.

Hm, I'm pretty sure you're just a darn good fic writer. I don't really have enough experience to comment on how annoying any couple is, relative geekiness notwithstanding. Heh, true enough, but I must admit he looked pretty good when they were storming the Whatever Company Building.

One of the active ingredients can be used to make meth. So yes, a little. Yeah, if you're only going to be able to work for a while, it's best to go in just as seasonal. And then it's really easy to get a more permanent job, because they won't have to train you again or call your references. You know what they say about having a BA in English, though ;) My dad told me that after I graduate I should get a really crappy job that I hate, because then I'll be encouraged to do grad/law school.

Yes, well. It helps to steal the best characters from several shows and just squish them together. I liked how capable he suddenly seemed when it came to storming/kicking ass, I just wish he'd been a little less grouchy emo in the run up. Plus I couldn't properly perve on him with that hair.

(Sorry, finishing ice cream. Mmm, ice cream...)

Aw nuts. Friggin' drug-users, ruining things for us innocent allergy-sufferers. Hm. Maybe something part-time at BN would be good while I look for a real job. I was planning to volunteer somewhere... No, I don't know what they say about having a BA in English, and I don't think I want to.

Heh, you have a point there. Luckily for me it's been so long since I watched 5YG the clearest memory I have is the one guy running up to attack Peter and just getting tossed out of the way like a rag doll.

(I just finished mine as well. Mmm, cotton candy.)

Friggin' drug users have no respect for those of us who also take drugs. But the legal kind! It's good in the sense that at least you're making money and getting out of the house regularly, and that you'll stay used to having somewhere to be on time to, every day. Four years of college and plenty of knowledge... Although it could be worse, you could have a BA in Yiddish.

*snickers* That was admittedly quite awesome. It's a lot like his little smile when he rescues Angela; one of those "Eh, this is cake," faces.

They most certainly do not. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Hm, seems like a pretty good idea, if they'll have me. Aww sonnuvabitch! Knew I should've gone for the Business minor.

Oh Peter. You have so much potential for badass-ery within you... Though, we wouldn't like it if you lost that girly sweetness of yours.

Date: 2009-05-19 02:30 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com
But you know, what can you expect from illegal drug users? Nuthin'. I'm sure they'll have you! You've got a BA in English! Oh, business minors are boring. Business in general. And these days about as difficult to parlay into an actual job.

Yeah, I miss the girly sweetness he's already lost. But he's still really nice to his mom and appreciates a good hug that doesn't end with him getting his powers stolen. So that's nice.

Date: 2009-05-19 02:40 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com
*sigh* They're so selfish, those illegal drug-users. They might, they might. Are they? Ha! That's some good schadenfreude right there, since my.. heh, my alma mater seemed to be catering to the Business Majors at the expense of other departments quite a bit at the end.

Oh man, those Petrellis and their amazing Hugs of Betrayal. I hope we get at least one more of those before the series ends.

Really. So little self control, too. I think that's true of just about every major university these days. We just recently had protests about it, and while I do think there's a fair bit of disparity going on in the fact that there's a huge brand new business building all on its own with a fancy lawn and a cafeteria, while econ is crammed in with government and politics in a building from the 60's, at the latest, and a couple of vending machines on the first floor, is a little unfair overall, well...they're getting theirs. So there.

To be fair, it's not like Peter gives them. Although...he did give Nathan that "Okay, I'll go and have Mohinder try and fix my power" hug right before running away and into Claude's arms, so I guess he does do a fair bit of that as well.

Date: 2009-05-19 02:54 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com
It's so disappointing, really. Our Arts Department has gotten really shafted the last couple of years, especially Drama. Though, to be fair, the reason they haven't had a good theater the past while is because a new one's being built. Though, construction is pretty much crawling.

Next to Arthur's epic power-stealing hug and Nathan's tazing hug, Peter's little fake-out hug really just highlights how un-Petrelli-like he really is.

Date: 2009-05-19 03:08 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com
Like I say, it's real special that the majors that cause the financial meltdowns get the nice digs and the ones that people expect to solve them get a vending machine that steals your money. Ironically enough. Again, not bitter. But the thing is, people who can afford to give a lot money tend to be in those schools, so, you know...yeah, it makes sense.

The tazing hug still makes me wince. Even though I went back to liking Nathan, a little, when I went back to watch that scene and he was all, "Be gentle with him"...urg. Bad brother, Nathan!

From: [identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com
Heh, isn't that just ducky? But I get it. It was the same when I applied to Bryn Mawr- they were looking for people they knew could pay the tuition. That doesn't tend to include the artsy crowd.

Seriously. I don't think there was really any coming back from what he did earlier in the season, even if Peter forgave him, that's why he "died" in the finale.

Date: 2009-05-19 03:20 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com
It really is. But college is like that. I have a couple of friends in the art school, and they really do have it even worse, because at most econ majors need an blackboard and a slide projector. The art school has easels that fall apart and crappy lockers and...yeah. It's not good.

The only reason I care at all about Nathan and his survival or lack of it is because of what it'll do to Peter. Because Peter deserves not to have people he loves die all the time.
