It's been aaages since I did a proper meme! What's wrong with me? I used to do those all the time! Anyway, taken most recently (and it was a close race) from [livejournal.com profile] c_quinn:

Type these words into your music library and name the first song that appears:

Love:
Hate:
Light:
Dark:
Happy:
Sad:
Good:
Bad:
Smile:
Cry:
Girl:
Boy:

Love: "Jesus of Suburbia / City of the Damned / I Don't Care / Dearly Beloved / Tales of Another Broken Home" by Green Day (seriously?!)
Hate: "Whatever-However" by Tracie Thoms & Zoƫ Bell (dude, that's just a dialogue snippet from Death Proof!)
Light: "Starlight" by Muse (oh thanks, really wanted that information out there)
Dark: "Mad World" by Michael Andrews & Gary Jules (well that's appropriate)
Happy: "Trigger Happy" by Weird Al Yankovic (YES, love that song)
Sad: "Sad Tomorrow" by The Muffs (hey no fair, I haven't actually listened to this yet!)
Good: "G.O.D. (Good Old Days)" by Fastball (nice)
Bad: "Cherry Bomb" by The Runaways (again, very appropriate)
Smile: "You Make Me Smile" by Blue October (fun fact: this is a Plaude song for me, even though the lyrics really don't work at all)
Cry: "I'm Not Crying" by Flight of the Conchords (hunh, I thought I deleted that...)
Girl: "Extraordinary Girl" by Green Day (okay, I swear I don't listen to this album hardly at all any more)
Boy: "Boys are Back in Town" by Thin Lizzy (cool)

That's quite a diverse mixture. /laugh/ But, honestly, nothing to be embarrassed about. I think variety makes music interesting.

And sometimes you just need to jam to Green Day. ;)

Ye-eah, it's not too easy to make music I will be entirely turned off by. And I consider that a virtue. Just one I maybe don't want to share with everyone.

Sometimes, sometimes.

Aw, I have a lot of Muse songs (including that one), is that something I should be ashamed of?

Noo, I just... meh, Muse... such a post-boy band era boy band...

From: [identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com
Pfft, I have a ton of post-boy band era boy band and also a couple of regular boy band songs, I feel only marginal shame about them. A persona can't listen to Real Tuesday Weld or I Am Kloot all the time.

From: [identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com
Heh, you can probably define The Fratellis and The Rifles "post-boy band era boy bands" too, but... they're foreign, so it doesn't count, SO THERE.

*laughs* If you say so. I will just sit and listen to my Dashboard Confessional songs unironically and get great enjoyment out of them. Well, some of them.

I cannot and will not deny that "Vindicated" is a Plaude song to end all Plaude songs. And that's saying something.

From: [identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com
LOL, yes, there is that, and "Stolen" is from Scrubs so I like that one too.

Not familiar with that one. If it's Plaude-y, I would like to be, but only if.

Ehhh, not particularly, I don't think. Now I kind of want to make a fanmix. I haven't done that for a while either.

Date: 2011-10-18 11:54 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com
Ohh fanmixes. A while ago I got some organized, then lost interest. I dunno, it feels weird not to make an album cover now, but I still lack the skillz to make anything like a decent one. And I'm still toying with an instrumental mix.

From: [identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com
I have an ongoing OTP playlist on iTunes that I'll randomly drop songs into when I'm listening to them and they seem relevant, but it would probably require some pruning. I kind of want to make cover art with THAT manip now, but it would require going to ask the artist about it and at this point that feels awkward. I downloaded a really good instrumental mix recently, I don't remember what it was.

Date: 2011-10-19 12:02 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com
I do the same thing- I'm up to 86 tracks. I'm sure the manip's artist would be totally flattered if you asked.

The thing about an instrumental mix is I feel like people's responses to instrumental music can be extremely subjective. Just because one piece of music screams Plaude to me doesn't mean it will at all to anyone else. I can't even say exactly why they do.

Date: 2011-10-19 12:04 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com
It's been so long though, they're just going to be like, "Really, you guys are still at this?"

Well, I'll admit I would not be quick to go "Ahah! Plaude!" at any instrumental music, but I'd still listen to it, and even if they don't hear the Plaude, they'll still have the music and enjoy it. Win/win.

Date: 2011-10-19 12:16 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com
I doubt they would. I mean, they cared enough to make the manip, they know what it's like to enjoy this pairing. It would be messed up of them to judge you. FYI, I'm currently working up the nerve to ask a writer if I can adapt a concept from a Stargate Atlantis fic she wrote in 2006 for a Plaude fic.

To be fair, some instrumental tracks I have and might include are closely tied in my head to fics I've written. So, I dunno, I guess that gives me something more concrete than someone just hearing the track(s).

Date: 2011-10-19 12:36 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com
Mm, perhaps. Well, that's certainly a fandom I know nothing about, so no comment there.

Most of the instrumental tracks I have in my iTunes are from movies, so that's what I tend to associate them with. Maybe you could name/link to whatever fics you've written and associate with each song.

Date: 2011-10-19 12:47 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com
I've never watched a full episode, so... well, that just shows how good that fic was. Buuut it doesn't seem like the writer's been active since sometime last year, and she didn't respond to my comment on the story where I asked for permission. I'm trying e-mail next.

Oh, I would totally self-pimp, for sure. That's, like, a given, right there.

Date: 2011-10-19 12:50 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com
Hmm, well, since 2006 is a while ago.

Well then, you're all set!

Date: 2011-10-19 01:04 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com
I know, but I wanna write the fic so baaad! But I can't do it without permission!

Maybe, if I ever bother to actually do it.

Date: 2011-10-19 01:10 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com
Well, if you've emailed her and tried to contact her otherwise, I think you've made a reasonable effort and can...do it anyway?

You've gotten me all intrigued, now you have to do it.

Date: 2011-10-19 01:38 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com
Well, I haven't e-mailed her yet. But I will now, as I've just created an e-mail account that doesn't have my real name on it. And I suppose if another few months go by and she still doesn't respond, and the story is still begging me to give it a try, and I do write it, and I do finish it, and I do post it, then... I will definitely give her full credit and link her fic in my A/N.

Oh, we'll see. Again, I get hung up on cover ideas and how incapable I am of creating them.

Date: 2011-10-19 01:52 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com
Well, whatever you think is best. But months seems an awful long time to wait.

Eh, you could just do something simple. The name and titles of songs on a solid background or something.

Date: 2011-10-19 01:58 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com
It's not really. That is one of three ideas currently stewing in my head. It can wait.

I knoooow. But I have ideeeaaas. Dammit I wish my Wacom tablet still worked.

Date: 2011-10-19 02:01 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com
Well, as long as you have ideas.

:( I'm sure you could still manage something nice without it.

Date: 2011-10-19 02:05 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com
Yeah. Now, if I could actually sit down and start writing them, that would be something. A week or two ago I managed to do the first scene of one, but only because I was trying to go to sleep and it wouldn't leave me alone.

Maybe. Anyway, bedtime.

Date: 2011-10-19 02:07 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com
Well, I don't know if that's better or worse than writing something...and writing something...and writing something...and yet it never gets finished. Which is where I've been at for weeks.

Good night!

Hey, personal question, in your opinion, in "I See You, You See Me," who is singing from Peter's POV and who's singing from Claude's?

Date: 2011-10-21 12:18 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com
Hmm, let me give it a listen.

Good god, I have like three copies of that song.

Okay, at the beginning, I'd say girl=Claude, guy=Peter, but then by the end I'm not so sure, it could go the other way. So probably not very helpful to you.

Does it end really abruptly for you at 5:07? I'm not sure what that's about- I assume the next track on the album starts there.

Anywho, yeah, that's what I figured. I love that "why throw a circle round a man with broken bones" line.

One of mine does, but the others are a full six minutes.

I love the whole song. It's ridiculously Plaudey.

Date: 2011-10-21 01:24 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com
Ooh, can I have one of the six-minute ones?

Indeed, from the title to "I never thought that you wanted for me to stay, so I left you with with the girls that came your way."

From: [identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com
Yes you may.

And just the name of it and the chorus and the whole seeing and falling thing, it's just so perfect.

From: [identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com
Yay, thanks!

Yup, pretty much the whole package.
