I had some leftover red bell pepper from my last cooking marathon, so I played mad chef a bit and cooked it up with diced onion, carrots, and chicken in olive oil, chucking in just for shits and giggles (more the latter than the former *crosses fingers*) oregano, garlic powder, some butter, and Lowry's salt (I pray at the altar of Lowry's salt, sprinkle it on a shoe and it'll taste good). I didn't measure anything, I just went for it. I mixed the whole mess in with egg noodles and the result is... well, still nothing that would've come out of my mom's kitchen, but not bad either! Honestly though, the idea of making a meal and just throwing in spices and stuff I liked and coming up with something tasty and interesting has always been kind of a dream of mine. I envy really good cooks the same way I do musicians.

Anyway, it was a long, frustrating, tiring day today, but it's almost over, I've got an episode of US Top Gear to check out whenever I feel like it, and tomorrow there is Rifftrax Live! Whooo! Jack the Giant Killer, which looks like someone trying to carry on the old Jason and the Argonauts style when that was still cutting-edge. It's really nice to have something special like Rifftrax Live right in the middle of the week, so rare that that happens. The day after I'm going to be enduring a seminar on payroll law... mostly for the brownie points and the possibility of going home early, but hey, especially considering what went down today, maybe I'll learn a thing or two. And then the day after that there's a comedy show sponsored by Planned Parenthood! Should be good times- I had no idea there was like an arts community maybe half an hour from my apartment. So, I've got a busy second half of a week, is what I'm saying.

Okay, I feel like US Top Gear now. Although, really, another "what's the toughest truck" challenge? Come on, guys. That other episode where you tested all of your first cars was great, I had never seen UK Top Gear do that! I don't need more friggin' trucks.

I was having a really great day up until my parents got home, and my mother ambushed me about...something or other, it's possible I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention. But still, it never fails, whenever work and/or school's going well, I get home and it all goes to crap, or vice versa. I want to be sick again so everyone will leave me alone.

Anyway...you've also reminded me that I need to go grocery shopping because I haven't made dinner in like a week. And I'm sad because we're not doing a White Collar/Covert Affairs post this week or ever, for a while anyway.

So now I'm going to go off and...avoid doing the reading I need to do for the exam I have on Thursday and do fandom stuff instead. Just like being back in college!

Aw, well, at least you're feeling better?

Yeah, I'm gonna miss live posts. I suppose I could do one for Doctor Who when it starts up next next Saturday...

*snort* No kidding! I really couldn't imagine taking a class again, plus a full-time job.

*sigh* Yeah, I am feeling better. Which is good.

That would be nice...I feel bad that [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] is going to be in a whole different time zone, though. That's disappointing.

Heh, it wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't gone to Mexico then gotten sick; I was really on top of things before all that, and now...eh.

It is! Certainly wouldn't want some sick-y dragging ass behind me at the PP comedy show.

Yeah, I mean, well, when exactly does it come on? Wouldn't it air at the same time as us, that time being a few hours earlier from her POV? Maybe..? *has a headache*

I always hated being absent and falling behind.

Please, I've spent entire vacations with a cold, I could handle a comedy show. Maybe.

It depends on the channel, but for the most part they air at, say, 8pm here at EST, and then 8pm according to PST (so 11pm our time). This is based only on the fact that when the writers of WC do Twitter posts for the California people, it's not at our time, it's at...12ish?

Yeah, it's at least partly my fault, but bleh, whatever, I have experience dealing with this. And even if I fail, well, I have a job and it's not like it's going to screw my GPA.

We-ell, you just take it easy until then.

I dunno, I'm too lazy to look it up, but you're probably right. I feel like I remember seeing a show come on at 8pm EST and 7pm OTHER TIME. But I've been on the tough side of the time difference, keeping up with UK Top Gear.

Ahaha, in between studying for my exam and all the actual work I have to catch up as well as all the fandom stuff, not so much on the taking it easy. But I am really looking to Friday, anyway.

Yeah, some shows do the 7pm, 6pm Central or whatever, but if you think about it that probably really screws with their scheduling so I don't think any of the USA shows do.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. Friday should be fun, though I've had mixed experiences with live stand-up.

Yeah, it just makes sense to keep everything at the same time, even if those times aren't the same.

Live anything is kind of a crapshoot; the only live standup I've seen was Jon Stewart (with Mike Birbiglia as the warm-up act), so I probably don't have the most representative experience.

*laughs* This conversation is worthy of a Doctor Who episode. Or a quip, at least.

I saw a couple of good folks in college, but once I went with my mom and stepdad to this show at a restaurant... The first comic was pretty good, an older lady who told a lot of jokes about seniors, but the guy after her... I've blocked out most of it, all I really remember is an overwhelming sense of "Aaaaawkwaaaarrrd..."

Hee. You know, I will never forget the oddity of traveling from England to the US, traveling backwards in time.

One of the old Cow Nipple writers (no one you've met) did standup, and he invited us all to go see him perform at some college-sponsored thing or another, but I never got a chance. For the better, probably. I'm sure it would've been...awkward.

Heh, is it backwards, then? Well anyway, that's why I could never travel with the Doctor, time zones alone confound me.

It would be strange to watch someone I knew do stand-up. It has been interesting listening to Nerdist, though- they have a lot of really amazing comics on talking a lot of genuine theory and stuff.

Yeah, we're something like five hours or so behind. I have to avoid the live-posts for Top Gear and until someone posts a download.

To be fair a lot of the Cow Nipple meetings tended to devolve into bad (sometimes cringeworthy) stand-up. But in public is just a whole different level. We were going to do podcast-ish things way back when, or basically just record meetings, but then we realized some of the stuff we said would totally get us banned or protested or both.

Yeah, that does make sense, because it's the same with DW; they see it before we do sometimes a week beforehand when BBCA screws with us.

We-ell, you slap an explicit label on there when you put it on iTunes and you're golden, more or less.

It's a weird experience to see those posts and know something is airing right now, and yet, you're not missing it.

P.S. Dangit, I wanted to go to sleep at 10, but Carpe Brewski updated. *desperately tries to skim and not skim at the same time*

Well, I'd still be worried about how that'd be perceived by the public university that funds our existence. I say, like I'm still running the damn paper. I miss running the damn paper.

I still feel like I'm missing it, sometimes enough to try and download it once it's available.

Pffft, I'm reading about assets and liabilities of the Federal Reserve System, which is just as exciting as epic bromances.

I'm the opposite - I hardly ever use recipes for cooking, unless it's some specific dish that I've never made before. Baking definitely needs a recipe, but cooking is for messing around.

See I get nervous about stuff. I'm definitely not ready to try to make my chicken and rice casserole without the recipe. Heck, I still keep the box handy when I make powdered mashed potatoes.
