Day 30 - A song from your childhood
Boy is it unlikely I'll ever get married. But, in point of fact, I happen to be as romantic as I am cynical (no, it's not easy), so, um, I might've decided a while ago that David Gray's Please Forgive Me would be the, ah, traditional first song in the wildly improbable event I need one for wholly implausible matrimonial purposes. Because, I like it, a lot, and maybe kind of wouldsingit and it's good, yeah! Helps that it's Plaude-y too, in a super sappy happy ending kind of way.

Date: 2010-09-27 11:39 pm (UTC)Hah, I won't. That's been my wedding song for way longer than this meme had me thinking about it. Which is weird, because I'm also really not likely to have a wedding.

Date: 2010-09-27 11:47 pm (UTC)You know, I think maybe it might be one of those sexist assumptions that is actually kind of true- even if they don't intend to get married, a lot of women still think about what their wedding would be like.

Date: 2010-09-27 11:55 pm (UTC)I don't know; I haven't really thought about what my wedding would be like except for when I'm at a wedding and thinking, "Wow, I would really not want to spend that long in that dress...and those shoes...in front of so many people..." I don't even remember doing it as a little girl, when I was a lot more traditionally minded.

Date: 2010-09-28 12:11 am (UTC)I definitely didn't think about it as a little girl, and today I haven't really gotten past the song. But still, you wonder about it.

Date: 2010-09-28 12:13 am (UTC)It's a pretty major rite of passage in our society, for better or worse. I'd be surprised if men don't think about their potential wedding day either. They're probably not picturing what they'll be wearing (although some, maybe), but then not all women do that either.
