Kiss from a Rose.

DON'T JUDGE ME.

Anyway, somebody name a character whose first/last/nickname starts with the letter X. I need it for a thing. And it can't be Xander from Buffy.

Should be a relaxing weekend for me. I don't have many plans beyond purchasing a copy of Photoshop and attempting something for the latest super cool [livejournal.com profile] picspammy challenge. I have a Plaude Bingo idea I could work on, but.. I kind of need to be in the right mood for it- we'll see if that manifests later on. The plans for attempting beef stew remain fluid, and have been bolstered by another successful chili.

Eh, don't feel bad, I love "My Humps". Like a lot. It's just so fun to listen to!

Xavier from X-Men is the first one that comes to mind.

*laughs* I had a couple ideas for that picspammy challenge but none I want to actually invest time in. Good luck with beef stew ;)

Ooh, "My Humps," yeesh.

Ye-eah, me too. But talk about daunting characters to write. He could work, though.

Well, I spent a half hour or so looking for good screencaps to use, so it would be silly not to go through with it now. Still, we'll have to see if I can make something decent.

Well, if it didn't elicit the "yeesh" response then it wouldn't be a guilty pleasure now, would it?

Heh. Uh. There's Xeno from Small Gods but I don't quite remember who he was.

I look forward to seeing whatever it is.

Also I didn't notice it before but your icon makes me smile.

Indeed.

Heh, I knew I picked the wrong book to re-read.

XD Same. I miss my "geekiness" Ten icon, but I already had like three DW icons, and I needed to show my Better Off Ted support.

I thought for sure there was an X-named character in Pyramids but nope. None that I can find.

Heh, I need to get some new icons! I need a White Collar one at the very least.

We-ell, a Discworld character wouldn't work spectacularly for my purposes, actually.

I've been looking and looking for a good WC and Sherlock icon. Nothing's really caught my eye yet. I like it when I can get icons that serve a purpose, like my nerdy!Lem one when I'm being particularly, well, nerdy.

*laughs* I'm kind of intrigued as to what your purposes are now.

I have too many icons that I never use, even when they might be thematically appropriate. But I think a WC one would be nice for the epic Neal Petrelli-Rains threads.

I mentioned it before, obliquely.

Yeah, I don't like having icons I hardly ever use. I probably won't get the full thirty while I have a paid account.

I did find this Sherlock icon that I like quite a bit. Haven't decided if I'll add it or not yet:

One of those "cool memes" from someone?

I was so excited to get a paid account when I did, so I'd be able to have all those icons, and I never use them. I don't even have thirty anymore either. *sigh* I'm an lj failure.

Hah! Oh, Lestrade.

Yup.

Hee, honestly, I don't know why some people get, like, 100+ icons. All they would do is get in my way when I'm trying to pick one for a comment or whatever.

I know, right? Fantastic. Still, I really might try to make my own once I have Photoshop. There's this one shot of Sherlock and John in profile- can't remember what episode it is, but I think it would make a pretty good icon. Either that, or Sherlock and the sneaker framed by the window in "The Great Game."

Hey it's a good song!

It's ridiculous song! But, like, sorta romantic, I guess, in a... madrigal-ish kind of way. And, y'know, Batman, and stuff.

How could you forget Xena: Warrior Princess? ;)

I like Kiss from a Rose too. *laughs* I can't judge. There are a really shameful number of guilty pleasure songs that I enjoy.

Also... I totally just bought tickets to DC for the rally!

Ohh lordy, she'd be even more difficult to write than Professor X.

There's just something about it, I dunno. I guess it plays into Batman's "dark knight" aesthetic just right.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeee! XDDD *is so excited she changes her icon*

I know nothing about Xena. I had a chemistry teacher in high school that confessed to our class that she went through a period of questioning her sexuality because she thought she was in love with Xena.

It's a hauntingly very nice song, even if it's kind of sappy.

Yay! I'm really excited too! I need to plan my sign!

From: [identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com
... Why was your chemistry teacher discussing her sexuality in class?

TBH, I can never quite remember about half the words. So, that helps.

It's going to be so ridiculously awesome! You have to help me talk [livejournal.com profile] visiblemarket into going to Crepe Amour and/or Kramerbooks & Afterwords at some point.

She was so strange. She also thought that dinosaurs were a conspiracy created by the US government because, and I quote, "Think about it. Has anyone ever found a dinosaur outside the United States?" Whole class: "Yes."

I am all for anything involving crepes and Kramerbooks & Afterwords looks really cool. I also requested Ben's Chili Bowl. *laughs* When I go to cities I'm like, "Screw museums! Where are the good places to get famous food?"

From: [identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com
Wow. That is indeed very.. odd. I think there may have to be something a little off about a person who likes chemistry so much they want to teach it.

Hee, from what I've seen on No Reservations and Bizarre Foods that's exactly how a city should be experienced.

She didn't stay at my school very long. But she was my teacher... for gifted level chemistry.

I just pulled up the full menu for Kramerbooks & Afterwords and it looks dangerously delicious. I'm coming in Friday afternoon at 3:15 and leaving Sunday evening at 7:30. So that is plenty of food opportunity!

Of all the classes I've ever taken, chemistry's the one I came closest to failing. So, yeah, no love lost there.

Doesn't it? And so cheap too! Awesome, I was hoping you'd be around more than a day.

From: [identity profile] gingerberrysnap.livejournal.com
I was okay at basic chemistry, but I doubt I could have handled organic. Parts of physics gave me trouble.

I don't know if I would call it cheap, but it's reasonable. Especially for the food they're offering. I took that whole weekend off from work already because I was going to New York with my step-dad, which isn't happening anymore. So I decided to just go to DC instead. :)

Woof, I'd say I stopped completely at basic chem. Stuck to bio subjects after that, plus a semester of astronomy in college.

I would- you have to buy an entire fish to spend $20! Heh, well, if this isn't making the best of a bad situation I don't know what is. ^^

I always liked astronomy! Astrophysics was my favorite part of physics.

That is true. But everything is so tasty looking so it adds up. Even their beer menu is awesome.

Date: 2010-09-18 03:20 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com
Oy, I could not even imagine floundering my way through physics of any type.

That's a good point- the $20 would buy only the fish. They wouldn't happen to have hard cider, would they? If they have Woodchuck...

From: [identity profile] gingerberrysnap.livejournal.com
I took AP physics. I... don't know why I thought that would be a good idea.

The fish would probably be good. But I'd like drinks and maybe dessert to go with it. They have two different types of cider! Not Woodchuck though. They have Original Sin and then some premium hard cider I've never heard of... J.K.'s Scrumpy Organic.

Date: 2010-09-18 03:31 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com
Heh, well, don't ask me.

Ooh, they have some good desserts, don't they? *sigh* More places need to sell Woodchuck. Is Original Sin good?

Date: 2010-09-18 04:09 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] gingerberrysnap.livejournal.com
I saw an amaretto soaked brownie that sounds yummy. I've never had Original Sin, but I've seen it in bars before.

Hoo boy. I've been really into crème brulée lately, not sure why. It's just lovely, and I've never really had a bad one.

I've been into creme brulee too! That restaurant we went to in Boca has a duo of chocolate and vanilla creme brulee that's really good. Whole Foods also makes good creme brulee, and my local one sells it in the ceramic, so if you get enough you can have a set to bake your own.

From: [identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com
Whoa, chocolate creme brulee. That sounds incredible. My folks make noises sometimes about how they have the little burner thing to make the crust, but I doubt they'll ever really attempt it.
