I think the official line is that the network doesn't want him commenting on his personal life, which is why he's stopped doing it. There are those pictures of him with someone who's apparently an ex-boyfriend, and I thought the partner and kid stuff was confirmed, but...I kind of hate that I know this.
I like the idea of Neal kind of waiting a bit to see if Peter would give hims CPR. I don't think he would, if Peter was genuinely worried, but...
