I'm off on a New York visit with
visiblemarket on Thursday, but I won't be super available on Wednesday, so let's have one of these for the road!
11 – Genre – do you prefer certain genres of fic when you're writing? What kind do you tend to write most?
Hmm, interesting question. Are we talking literary genres or fandom genres? If the former, I don't really think I have a preferance or a tendency genre-wise. Every so often I've felt like writing something a little horror-inflected, which is weird because I've read extremely little in the way of horror fiction. And, I dunno, sometimes I like getting into something suspenseful and plotty. I guess I'd be lying if "romance" didn't fit any of my stuff.
As for fandom genres, I've tried my hand at plenty. Off the top of my head, crossovers, AUs, time-travel, a little gender-swap. Of course slash, if you consider that a genre. Probably more, I don't feel like digging.
Anywho, d'awww, White Collar, I almost thought there wouldn't be a lovely Peter/Neal hug upon their reunion. Silly me.

Oh god, I completely missed White Collar. And Covert Affairs. I'd like to say it was because I was cleaning my room in anticipation of you coming by, but...that is so not why.

Whoops! I'm surprised I remembered myself. Sorry, WC, you just don't stick as well as some shows.

How was it? I'll...maybe catch up on it? I've been having trouble getting back into a lot of the old shows I used to watch, though.
But mainlined the first season of Teen Wolf over three days, because I don't know, peer pressure.no subject
It was okay, I guess. Honestly I was paying, like, 40% attention to it. As usual.

pornerotica, so. LET ME HAVE THIS. What was it "unpublished stories from independent writers online"? I'm an independent writer online.*sigh* Maybe when we get back. I don't know how many spare moments we'll have in NYC, although honestly I haven't planned out much. I'm doing a tour of the new law school building on Friday morning, but that's the only set thing. We could go to Cones and the Dorian Gray bar.

Those sound cool! I'd like to go to the Botanical Gardens, and the High Line, and the Met or the Guggenheim, maybe the zoo in Central Park. Basically tourist it up tourist style.

The Guggenheim is kind of pricey to get into and usually not worth it, but we can definitely go see it from the outside. We should also go to The Strand.

Okay, my boss said the Met's admission is just a "suggested donation," so there's that. They sell books at the Strand, right?

The Met is definitely worth it: they've got an Egyptian temple! And other stuff, it's nice. They do sell books at the Strand, both new and used, and it's huge and musty and awesome. The have a tumblr.

If you're looking for free stuff to do, walking the High Line is always fun: http://www.lonelyplanet.com/usa/new-york-city/travel-tips-and-articles/77281
And if you feel like riding out to Flushing, the New World Mall has a really fun food court (really cheap and almost all in Chinese, so you do lots of pointing and gesturing).

Ooh, yes, I do want to check out the High Line, I've seen pictures and it looks so cool. Thanks for the suggestions!
