Ah, well, another week down. This weekend will be much more low-key than the last one- mostly cleaning, maybe some cooking, and for goodness' sake finally writing the other auction fic I've been avoiding. *sigh* If you're reading this, [livejournal.com profile] foxtoast, I haven't forgotten! I just need a decent muse to descend and give me a little direction. I dunno, have any of you guys seen "Brown Betty?" It's an episode of Fringe- a very cool episode that's a musical detective story told by a madman on drugs. Have I mentioned Fringe is kind of awesome? Well, it is. ... Well, it was, at that point. Now... I'm having some doubts. We'll see how the rest of this season goes, I guess. Anyway, to come back to the point, if you've seen the episode, and a prompt of some kind occurs or has occured to you, feel free to drop it off here. I've.. really got just this side of nothing.

Otherwise... oh! I got a raise! I'm not sure yet just what it will do for my finances- honestly, I'm trying not to get my hopes up. But yay money!

Also, after months of failed attempts, I finally managed to do something I've been trying to do for... well, months.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. *ba dum ching* I pass below this sign EVERY DAY, folks. And I've been waiting, just WAITING, for the right moment when I'd be at a red light in the front of the line so I could snatch up my phone and access the camera function and snap a decent picture. What I finally got the other day was a mostly crappy picture, which I made mostly a different kind of crappy when I futzed with it in Photoshop, BUT I DON'T CARE.

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Yay money! Money is awesome. I have yet to get my check for the past two weeks, so I fully appreciate how awesome money is. *laughs*

I was having that "Oh. I used to think this show was good, right?" reaction to The Good Wife a couple of episodes ago, but then it got suddenly awesome, so don't lose hope. Sometimes with a new season they just need a couple (or ten) not so awesome episodes to ramp up to the really good stuff. On the other hand, I have never seen an episode of Fringe so I am no help to you.

Hah, did you submit that macro to Failblog.org? Or I'm sure there's a Shakespeare Macro community on lj. The hilarity must be shared!

[identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Woo! Aw, I'm sure once the paperworks gets sorted out they'll pay you what you've earned. Hey, don't you feel like Wendy, waiting for her first Middlecheck? I doubt they'll buy you a smart car though.

Maybe. It's just... we're building up to the big climax, and I just don't like how they're going about it. They're really embracing some cliches that they had previously avoided. Here's hoping they do something new with said cliches, now that they're here.

Heh, maybe I'll try to get it on So Much Pun later. I'm hungry and tired right now and not inclined to be proactive.

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Well, the problem is that it's AmeriCorps Headquarters in Indiana that's actually paying me, and they're more disorganized than I am, so...things take a while. I may not be getting a smart car, but one of these days, for sure, I'm getting my new/old car! One of these days...

Heh, I actually kind of think that's what's happening with Community. I mean...I still like it but...eh.

Psh, hungry and tired are boring!

[identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Hm, unfortunate. Well, yay new/old car! Eventually!

Really? Well, I guess since I'm a n00b I can't really discern stuff like that yet. Have you heard about the upcoming Abed-centric Pulp Fiction episode airing on my birthday? I'm pretty psyched about that.

Agreed! Doesn't make them easier to ignore.

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
It's gold and pretty and I'm sad about my old blue car probably going away.

Maybe I just really don't like Jeff/Annie and the fact that they've been teasing it annoys me. Apparently I'm one of those fangirls. *laughs* I haven't read any spoilers about Community in ages, but that does sound awesome! I want to see more Abed/Troy/Britta/Shirley stories.

Psh. I don't believe that at all.

[identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Aw, well, at least you get to say goodbye.

Hm, I kind of doubt they'll go for Jeff/Annie, they seem to recognize that Annie is pretty freaking young for him, though.. they did win that E! Best TV Couple contest. I guess if they do hook up we'll know how much they cater to fan service. But, yeah, hopefully they won't focus too much on Jeff or Annie when they have so many other awesome characters.

Well I've taken care of the hungry bit, so that's good.

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
That is true.

I don't think they'll actually go with it for really, but they'll keep teasing it and that annoys me.

Hooray! I'm watching V for Vendetta and enjoying young Dominic very much.

[identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
A year ago today I lost my first car.

Well, I like the chemistry between Jeff and Annie enough to not be bothered too much. But I hope they don't buy into fan service.

Ooh, V for Vendetta, that would be nice to watch. I've gotten sucked into The Rachel Maddow Show, though. Maybe tomorrow, when I'm done cleaning and should be writing.

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously, that long ago? Wow.

I don't know, I think both Annie and Jeff are like my least favorite characters on that show. Which doesn't mean I don't like them, just not as much as everyone else, and the more time they spend on them (due to the fanservice), the more annoyed I get.

I'm having a good time with it. Tomorrow I will actually try to get writing done, after I give blood in the morning. Productivity! I hope to at least finalize my auction fanmixes.

[identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Yup. Weird, huh?

Again, I'd say I'm too much of a n00b to have an opinion one way or another.

Hee, I just voted in Rachel's text poll! Yay for giving blood, and writing! Seriously, I'm dying for some new Plaude (if that is what you're working on). I'm sick of re-reading my old crap.

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Very weird. It kind of freaks me out to realize how long I've been at this livejournal thing.

*laughs* Well, you know me. I have very strong opinions about things that really don't matter that much, but by god I will argue them to the death.

Yay! Hah, well, I could finish a Plaude thing. Or a just-Claude thing. Or what I should do, start my auction fic. I'll probably do one of the first things.

[identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Hee, yeah, my four year Plaude anniversary is coming up in a few months. It's.. pretty much my longest relationship.

We-ell, I'm afraid you won't find much to butt your head against with me.

I'd love to write some Plaude, but I really can't do it before I write the auction fic. (Ooh, poll results... aw man, my choice didn't win.)

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
LOL. Yeah, same. Probably the healthiest one I'll ever have.

Sad. I've been trying to stay off sites where I'd actually get more argument, because they just drive me crazy and depress me. But I miss doing long posts of meta about stuff.

Hah, so you'll tempt me into ignoring my own commitments instead, then? Tsk, tsk. (Aw, what was the poll about?)

[identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
Well, we know a good thing when we find it.

I wouldn't mind long posts of meta about stuff, just don't expect me to fight you over it. ;)

Yeah, I've gotten that desperate. (Heh, about how embarrassing Mike Huckabee is. As in, "What's more embarrassing: Huckabee denouncing Natalie Portman for being pregnant (my choice- god what a dick move), Huckabee shilling his book in a super tacky way, or Huckabee being referred to as a "vibrator" of the Republican party?")

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
This is true. Oh Plaude, you made/make me so happy.

Hah, I may be doing a roundup, "My Thoughts on V For Vendetta", post. Which I always seem to do whenever I watch that movie. It's just so full of stuff!

Well, I guess it's a compliment. Hah, did the vibrator one win?

[identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, we are blessed.

Neat! Speaking of movies, Peacock is on Instant if you still wanted to watch it. It's quite a picture, I'd say.

It didn't, actually! The book thing did.

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Or something like that.

You know what I just noticed for the first time (well, noticed how weird it is): both Finch and Dominic carry guns. Which Sherlock fandom has reminded me is not standard for English policemen, but apparently is in that world. Anyway...I did want to watch Peacock. But probably it'll have to wait.

Well how is he promoting it? I mean the vibrator thing is just hilarious.

[identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Very very lucky, let's say.

Hunh, interesting. I suppose that's a commentary to the totalitarian state of the movie, that cops are now probably encouraged to use the most severe force against criminals. It's worth a look, Cillian Murphy is pretty amazing.

If I heard correctly it was in response to his comments criticizing Natalie Portman's private life, like, "What I said was taken out of context. READ MY BOOK TO LEARN WHAT I WAS ACTUALLY SAYING." You know, something super fucking classy like that.

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it could definitely be worse. We could have been Peter/Simone fans, that would've sucked.

Heh, I hope it's that, and not that it's made with American audiences in mind and they'd find it odd for them not to carry. Ellen Page is in it too, right?

Oh, Mike Huckabee. There was a time when I respected you. Seriously, why do Republicans go completely nutty once they decide to run for President? I guess maybe they're always that nutty and it just gets more attention once they're running for the big stuff, but seriously.

[identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed. Or Sylar/Elle fans.

Ye-eah, I'll go ahead and hope for the nuanced and interesting there too. She is- I don't really want to give away what's up with her character.

I never really knew all that much about him, but I remember seeing him interviewed in places (almost definitely TDS), and he did seem like a reasonably intelligent, "aw shucks" kind of guy. I was wrong.

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's probably worse. At least Peter didn't kill Simone.

Maybe they mention it in the commentary. I should give it a listen some day. Mm, I'll try and watch it...some day.

Yeah, seriously, he used to give off "I disagree with you, but I respect your right to think differently" vibes. Now, not so much.

[identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Pretty much. But we always knew Peter/Claude was one of the most healthy canon relationships.

Is there a commentary? I haven't heard it. Maybe I got one of the early DVDs that didn't get all the special features.

*sigh* I don't even know, or care.

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
It's kind of sad how true that is.

I don't know, I figure there would be, but maybe not. It's not mentioned on the DVD box, at least.

Well, moderation isn't that big amongst the tea party members, and that's who most candidates are going to cater to before the primaries. I mean, I think.

[identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
Oh well, works for me.

Hm, if it's not mentioned on the box, there probably isn't one. But I suppose you could check in the audio options if you don't see it in the bonus stuff. The commentaries for Shaun of the Dead hid from me for a long time before I fgured that out.

Ugh.

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Heh, well, it works for me as well, just...too bad there's no actual canon relationship that works so well.

I couldn't find one. Maybe one of the special editions has it, but I'm not investing that much money on it. I mean I love the movie, but...no.

Politics is fun...

[identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
I guess. Don't really know what I'd do with one if there was.

Boo. But yeah, they probably did release another edition with more special features, the jerks.

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
Well, not write thousands (maybe even hundreds of thousands?) of words about them and their further adventures.

Apparently there isn't one on the special two-disk DVD set, or the Blu-Ray. Huh.

[identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
Probably not. Actually, I am edging up on one hundred Plaude fics, at least from my count on my archive post.

Oh well. I'd say the movie stands well enough on its own, I'm not sure what a commentary would add that I couldn't do without.

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think I even want to know how many Plaude fics I have written. It might scare me into wanting to do something "real" with my life instead of something that I actually enjoy and what good would that do anyone.

Well, there's a lot of little details I'd love to get clarification about: the gun thing, whether V had any help when he was staging the Evey torture, and...I'm sure there are more. I mean it would be nice to have that kind of info, and the weird little set stories are always fun, but obviously I can do without it.

[identity profile] ellensparkleyes.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
lol! i bet all the actors in the area refer to it as 'the Scottish St'...

[identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com 2011-03-05 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
They better!

[identity profile] gingerberrysnap.livejournal.com 2011-03-07 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
Which reminds me I haven't forgotten about the Bingo fic! But I'm also having muse issues.

Congrats on the raise! :) More money is always good.

Hahaha, that street. I totally would have tried to position myself for optimal picture taking too. I may have even started to bring a real camera along with me. *laughs* That macro can definitely be submitted to somewhere.

[identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com 2011-03-07 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Argh, doesn't that suck? You just want to have it over and done with, but... there's nothing there.

Thanks! Yeah, I'd never say no to more money, I'm just hoping it doesn't all end up going into my gas tank. ):

Hee, if I had a real camera, I probably would have. Since I listen to music on the way to work through my iPhone, it was always a race to yank the USB cord out and get the camera function up and zoom in on the sign and take the picture before the light turned green. Very exciting stuff.
