1. No, self, you will not watch NCIS: Los Angeles sheerly for the slashiness of Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J's characters. It is considerable, though, I must say. There's been winking.

2. Yesterday I shook hands with a Pulitzer prize winning author. He was super nice, even though my friends and I were probably about the four hundredth-odd group in line at the National Book Festival. The only reason I didn't get an autograph was because I didn't own his book at the time. I do now, and will hopefully get around to reading it soon.

3. Which will have to wait, because a new Discworld book is coming out on the sixth OMG yay. The Unseen Academicals is going to be great, I can just tell. Discworld tackles football (pun intended, though, yes, I'm aware, that's not the football we're talking about), how can it be anything but great?

4. Speaking of awesome things coming up in early October, on the eighth there'll be an encore performance of the Rifftrax live event from August. I'm only going again if I can get someone to come with, sooo any takers should let me know. I speak from experience now, it's a dang good time.

2. I think Natalie Morales counts too! But.. I can't think of anyone else- ooh! Guillermo del Toro! Huuuge nerd.

3. Okay. Heh, ye-eah, his repeat characters, the ones he's had time to really develop, are a lot stronger than the ones that only show up once or twice.

4. Well all right then! Farbeit from me to complain about not being able to stay in my neighborhood. You know it'll be over around ten or eleven at night, though, right?

2. That's right! And he's pretty cool, too!

3. Well, even some of the one-offs are nice. I love just about everyone that shows up in Thief of Time.

4. Well, I drove in the rain at night on Saturday, so I feel like I'm ready for anything! And by then they'll probably have seen that I can manage to get myself to and from places without calamity.

2. He is at that! Quite an important figure in the nerd world at large.

3. Oh blah, yeah, that's right, you have read a bunch of DW books. Yes, I remember that conversation now. Silly memory of mine. And yes, Thief of Time is excellent, though perhaps bolstered somewhat by Susan's presence.

4. Hee, yeah, navigating in icky weather can make you feel pretty darn competent. I'm sure you'll be fine.

2. I have the soundtrack for Pan's Labyrinth and every time I put iTunes on shuffle mode and one of the songs pops up I keep wanting to see it again. Even though it depressed the hell out of me when I did.

3. *laughs* It happens. Thief of Time also has one of the best cameos; I loved seeing Nanny Ogg as a teenager and then at different ages. Plus Susan as a schoolteacher was pretty great.

4. I even navigated myself to one of my friend's houses with just MapQuest directions to go on!

2. Ooh, if I had more room on my iPod, I would probably have that soundtrack. It's an amazing movie, and it did have a happy ending! Kind of, if you squint...

3. We talk so much, how can I be expected to remember every one, I ask you! Nanny Ogg's awesome, at any age, though that's not exactly a surprise. I'm not sure which I prefer- schoolteacher Susan or nanny Susan from Hogfather. *sigh* Looks like my next Discworld re-read will have to be Thief of Time.

4. Good work, my friend!

2. I guess it depends on how cynically you read the ending. But for my own sanity I guess I'll just go with the sorta happy ending.

3. Heh, I still have a fondness for schoolgirl Susan trying to figure out how to do Death's job. And also because Imp y Celyn was in that book and he was also pretty awesome. I'm kind of sad that he never showed up again.

4. I was so proud. Sure, I got a little lost, but I figured it out and didn't have to call anyone for help or anything!

2. She goes home- that's what happens. Which is nice, though I still feel bad for Mercedes.

3. Oh dear, it's been forever since I re-read Soul Music. That's a big favorite. Imp should definitely come back at some point.

4. Excellent work!

(Also, I love watching Sensei Ping on Iron Chef America.)

2. Or in her last dying moments she deludes herself into thinking the whole thing was real. But no. She does go home. Magical realism! Yeah, poor Mercedes has to deal with a baby and a revolution going on with only Franco, fascism, and the coming second world war to deal with.

3. Same. But I did randomly re-read Reaper Man quite recently.

4. I know! And sure, I had to follow another friend out, that doesn't diminish the fact that I made it.

Hee! I am watching Mad Men and I feel like I missed half an hour because none of it is making sense.

2. And Mercedes doesn't know that Ofelia went home because that's what she did, she probably blames herself for Ofelia dying.

3. Oooh, Reaper Man. That's an interesting one. I know it's really good, but a lot of the details of it don't tend to stick in my head. Which is good for when I get around to re-reading it.

4. No it does not. If you got lost, and got yourself un-lost, then you win.

(Hm, that's unfortunate. What's also unfortunate is that I have to go to bed. Got a meeting with a career counselor type person to futz with my resume tomorrow morning, woohoo. 'Night!)
