greenery and humid air

Well, I'm going to venture out today and do my best to get the dang 4.0 software taken off my iPhone. The only thing I've appreciated about it since I downloaded it is the improved camera function, and that's not nearly enough to make up for the glaring flaws. So, anyway, to celebrate its demise mark its passing, yesterday I tromped out into the woods behind where I'm living to take some photos.

Firstly, a water hyacinth from my aunt's ornamental pond. Pretty gorgeous.

Woods to the right of the property.

The stream at the bottom. I have very fond memories of walking along right in the water with my cousins for hours. With our shoes on, which wasn't very smart, but oh well.

More stream.

Woods to the left of the property.

P.S. The crepe was not a fluke (which sounds like spy code for something). Yesterday I tried Nutella and banana at breakfast (strawberries and cream cheese for my aunt), and also a kind of tuna melt crepe for lunch (possibly my favorite so far). Once I'm done here, I'm going for peaches and brown sugar.

Well, werewolves can be fun too, depending on the mythos.

I'd say it's about equal, personally.

(Me too, on all counts! That poor teapot lady, she seemed very sweet and like she'd finally found a good life.)

I suppose. Angua is pretty cool, although I doubt you'd run into her.

*laughs* Between eating something someone else has made for me and eating something I made for myself, I usually prefer the former.

(She did! The museum guy who had a crush on her seemed sweet, too, and they could've been happy together! I seriously wasn't expecting her to get killed, we got to know her too well.)

Heh, I would go right now if I thought I would.

I suppose. Maybe it's just a newbie thing, but there's a lot of satisfaction in eating a good meal you made yourself.

(Totally. And by her own brother too. I really didn't think he was going to do it. That's so tragic.)

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2010-08-11 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee, I am not surprised.

It probably is a newbie thing. *laughs* I hardly ever eat anything I make anymore, it's sad.

(Oh, yeah, that broke my heart, and really did surprise me. I actually kind of expected her to shoot him or something; when I heard the gunshot that's what I figured had happened.)

I mean, if I had to meet any Discworld character out in the woods, Angua might not be my first choice, but she'd be on there.

I guess it'll wear off after a while, but, well, there are a lot of dishes out there I've never made, and I think I'll always get a thrill when I try something new and it goes well.

(I thought maybe he had shot himself, which I would've been okay with. But no. Pretty teapot lady had to die.)

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2010-08-11 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I think all the Discworld characters I would like to meet would not be woods people. Possibly because neither am I.

Aw, well, you should enjoy that. Cooking is a very important skill.

(Oh yeah, that would've worked too. Poor pretty teapot lady. She never even got to finish restoring/preserving that last teapot!)

Mostly, yeah. My thoughts are leaning toward Nanny Ogg, because she'd probably take you home and feed you and throw a party.

Indeed, and it would be a great weight off my shoulders if it turned out I could do it well.

(The guy who had a crush on her better take care of those pots.)

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2010-08-11 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL, Nanny Ogg would take you home and make her daughters-in-law prepare a feast for you while she regaled you with dirty stories about her adventurous girlhood.

Well, I think you've proven that you can do it well, so you should celebrate! With crepes!

(Ohh, he will become devoted to them, probably. He will become a renowned expert on the care and keeping of teapots.)

[identity profile] lotus0kid.livejournal.com 2010-08-11 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds awesome. I wish we could hear a story from the POV of an Ogg daughter-in-law.

Oh, I wouldn't go that far just yet. Maybe after I make a successful beef stew, multiple times, then perhaps I'll be able to say I might have a little talent.

(Awww, how romantic. Him and the teapots.)

Okay, I have to get a move on for that dang Apple appointment. Talk to you later. *sigh*

[identity profile] visiblemarket.livejournal.com 2010-08-11 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
*laughs* Those poor Ogg daughters-in-law are probably too terrified to speak ill of her.

Well, fingers crossed for successful beef stew.

(I can just picture him as an old man, still making sure to make tea in them every day and clean them off properly).

Good luck!
