lotus0kid: (kinda cool)
Swinging in before I give myself over to submission-reading. I've been a complete lump and haven't read a single one since Saturday *winces*. Whatever, I totally will tonight when I'm not watching Mythbusters. I'll even stay up until eleven if I don't get enough done. And I'll read more tomorrow. Yes.

Anyway, the reason for the swinging in: remixes are up and done! Yay!

The lovely remixes I received:
Since I Found Serenity (The Dysdaimonia Remix) by [livejournal.com profile] joking- Firefly, Jayne-centric
They Sold You On Their Way (The Bridezilla Remix) by [livejournal.com profile] amathela- Heroes, pre-series D.L/Niki

The remixes I wrote:
M.I.A. (The Rule-Breaker Remix) for [livejournal.com profile] visiblemarket- Plaude S1 pre-slash
Feeling Pretty Psyched (The Zompocalypse Remix) for [livejournal.com profile] melodyunity- Psych gen featuring Shawn, Gus, and Henry
Directions (The Overseas Aid Remix) for [livejournal.com profile] 2ndary_author- Firefly pre-series not quite!Zoe/Wash
Unmentionables (The Birthday Girl Remix) for [livejournal.com profile] little_missmimi- Firefly unrequited Inara/Kaylee

Annnd I'm off!

Hoo boy, it's gonna be a big old day for me. Luckily, I have been fortified with one of my most favorite breakfasts- leftover steamed dumplings and a cup of hot sweet green tea. Yum. Anyway, first up is the job meeting at 11:30, which I've got to tote my behind all the way out to Virginia for (but at least the parking's free for an hour). Since I've just about decided that the commute to the potential job in question is unacceptable, I'm basically looking at this as interview practice. That fact also makes me kind of want to wander in half an hour late wearing sneakers and sweats, ramble out a monologue about string cheese or something for fifteen minutes and leave, but I will resist.

After that I'll be attempting shepherd's pie for me and the folks for dinner, we'll see how that goes. And then it's two hours of friggin' HEROES oh boy oh boy XD. And then after that, it turns out my old Chaucer professor is going to be interviewed on this History Channel show. It's called Clash of the Gods and will air at 10pm. Excitement! He's awesome, one of my favorite professors ever, even though I only had him for the one semester. He also teaches a class on Tolkien, and will be talking about the use of mythology in those books.

Also, I just got my [livejournal.com profile] remixthedrabble assignment, which is cool, in a "yet another thing to distract me from what I should and actually do want to be writing" kind of way. Got a couple of familiar names, and one unfamiliar. We'll see what comes of it this time around.

I guess I need that long to scrape together something worth talking about.

So here goes. [livejournal.com profile] remixthedrabble's latest contest is all wrapped up, and I'd very much like to share the drabbles I was lucky enough to be given. They're all awesome and completely fit the fics they sprang from:
Engine oil and a 03-K64 (Springs and Circuits Remix) by [livejournal.com profile] maharetr
Slow Dance (The Walkin' After Midnight Remix) by [livejournal.com profile] sophinisba
The Man Behind The Man (The Man in the Mountain Remix) by our very own [livejournal.com profile] visiblemarket

As for my own remixes, I did...
Delegation (Lost Souls Remix) for [livejournal.com profile] amathela- a Dead Like Me/Reaper crossover featuring Gladys (aka Delores), George, and Sam
Stay Safe Tonight (It's Always a Gamble Remix) for [livejournal.com profile] visiblemarket- as if anyone reading this hasn't already read that, but it's a WW2 AU with Peter and Claude (not that you can actually tell from my drabble, but oh well)
Turnover (Weapon Remix) for [livejournal.com profile] melodyunity- Firefly, a pre-series look at River

I polished off Pride and Prejudice and Zombies last night, and since some folks wanted to know what I thought of it, here's what I thought of it: it was pretty darn cool )

Anyway, aside from all that, my mom and I are headed to Florida on Wednesday to visit my sister. We'll get back on Saturday, but until then I very much doubt I'll be around. So there's that. Gotta go now, there are some wilted daffodil remains in the garden that need seeing to before it gets too hot.

Remix fun!

I got three whole remixes for [livejournal.com profile] remixthedrabble! Guh, I'm so thrilled, you guys, you don't even know! Although, I must say, I don't think I quite got the hang of the whole "drabble = short" idea, because the remixes I got are lovely little things all less than 300 words long, while none of mine are below 300. I actually had to edit one down to keep it away from the 1,000-word max, although I feel there were extenuating circumstances. Anyway, um, anybody wanna see 'em?

Links to remixes I wrote:
-Torture (Remix of Beginnings (On the Ground- 1. Punishment) by melodyunity)- Kaylee-centric, pre-series
-Weekly Top-40 Number 1 Singles (Remix of Untitled by karathephantom)- Peter and Claire, post-series
-Twenty-Seven Messages (Remix of Damn the Man (And Suffer the Little Children) by kleenexcow)- Gabriel Gray and Noah Bennet

Links to remixes written for me:
-His Bird (Precise in Promise-Keeping Remix) by [livejournal.com profile] were_lemur
-Star-Crossed (Springs and Circuits Remix) by [livejournal.com profile] sophinisba
-Negotiations (The Animal Rights Protest Negotiation Remix) by [livejournal.com profile] mechturtle

Okay, that was fun. But I have lots of work I almost definitely should be farther along on than I am now. So, I don't think I'll be around very much for the next week or so.
