Uh oh.

Got off the phone with my sister a while ago- she's going to start job-hunting again, and she wants to come up here to visit before said job takes up all her time. Well, turns out this quick trip may also include her staying in my apartment, with the nephew, for four days. Oh no. HE'S GOING TO CRACK HIS SKULL OPEN ON THE COFFEE TABLE, HE'S GOING TO STRANGLE AND ELECTROCUTE HIMSELF WITH A WIRE, HE'S GOING TO KNOCK THE TV OFF ITS STAND AND CRUSH HIS TINY LITTLE BODY, THESE ARE THINGS THAT WILL HAPPEN. *deep breath* Anyway, it's possible they might end up staying at my dad's house. Probably shouldn't panic just yet. 0_0

Moving on. I caved a while ago and went on a bit of a shopping spree at Amazon. I am now the proud owner of a copy of The Fall (gorgeous, incredible, heart-breaking little picture), a copy of the Rifftrax Live House on Haunted Hill (one word: llllllllllladies), and a copy of Simon Pegg's biography Nerd Do Well which I just got out of the mailbox today. XDDD *snuggles book closely to her bosom* All the more motivation to get through that dang Made in America, which I'm out of renewals for anyway. I'm honestly going to start reading it on my break, even if it is a bitch to carry around.

Speaking of doing interesting things at work, an idea occurred to me today which helped keep me entertained through some mind-numbing stuff. What if someone did a version of King Lear in Las Vegas? Like, Lear as the owner of three extremely successful hotel-casinos who's looking to retire and pass them off to his daughters. The Fool could be the pathetic house opening act in a wretched tuxedo, and him and Lear and Edgar could end up out in the desert with that enormous sky you think you could fall into, and those crazy rock formations and cacti and eventually a storm that's all mud and huge crackling bolts of lightning. I don't know if I'd keep the language or go full adaptation, though. I'm not quite familiar enough with the play to know how well it would work. I guess all the casting questions on the latest meme-wagon have my mind in that mode, so of course I couldn't resist when I got this idea...

Fortune, good-night: smile once more; turn thy wheel! )

WARNING: GINORMOUS. IF YOU LOVE YOUR DIAL-UP, DO NOT CLICK.

Made because Sherlock Holmes is kind of a scenery porn film, albeit scenery that's taken a few whacks from the ugly stick, and because "Cemeteries of London" is totally about it.

Wow, I'm surprised this didn't occur to me sooner. I decided what actors played what characters in Ecstasia pretty much the first time I read it. Of course you'd probably have to take five to fifteen years off these people's ages, but anyway...

Apparently I can only do these when it's late at night and I should be asleep. At least this time I waited until morning to make the actual post.

1. Comment to this post with "I surrender!" and I'll assign you the basis of some tv show idea. (Science fiction show, medical drama, criminal procedure, etc...)
2. Create a cast of characters, including the actors who'd play them
3. Add in any actor photos, character bios and show synopsis that you want.
4. Post to your own journal.

A "Western detective show" for [livejournal.com profile] c_quinn.

Quickly, before I go do some car shopping.

Name five songs that remind you of any five characters from fandom.

This might say more about me than I'd like, but I actually have a Word document in which I keep track of songs that remind me of characters/pairings. I guess it just helps me a lot if I can link a song to a character. Helps me get in their head. And pairings- well, pairings are just fun. I can imagine a little private musical number in my head.

Anyway, here are some selections from my list. )

Okay, it's been a very long time since I read this play. So, [livejournal.com profile] fadeintodawn, there's going to be a lot of IIRCs going on here.

Our remedies oft in ourselves do lie, which we ascribe to heaven. )

Okay! And that wraps up another meme. And just in time too. Because I'm headed to Cancun in the morning. See you Friday, my darlings!

This one was tough. It's a complicated play. I had to cheat a bit. Anyway, I hope you like it, [livejournal.com profile] hermione_vader.

Men should be what they seem; or those that be not, would they might seem none! )

All righty, hopefully I can get All's Well that Ends Well done this afternoon or so.

I think I've got time for one more before bed. So here we go. Much Ado About Nothing (or Parade of Red-Heads, as it became) for [livejournal.com profile] c_quinn.

I will live in thy heart, die in thy lap, and be buried in thy eyes; and moreover I will go with thee to thy uncle's. )

Okay, sometime tomorrow hopefully I can finish up with Othello and All's Well that Ends Well. G'night!

This meme was tougher than I thought. I've seen movies for almost all of these plays, and the casting in them has often been so awesome it was really hard to imagine any other people playing the roles. So, I guess what I'm saying is, I did my best. Here's the first one, for [livejournal.com profile] visiblemarket.

Dost thou think Alexander looked o' this fashion i' the earth? )

Next up once I get the time to track down the pics: Much Ado About Nothing.

Ah, the things I get up to when it’s the weekend and I feel obligated to stay up late because I can’t during the week. Anyway, let’s get started, shall we? The meme goes like this:

[livejournal.com profile] zombres requested a "Historical Musical Comedy with Supernatural Twists," and, uh, this is what I came up with, a month later. Warning: lots of pictures, dial-ups should proceed with caution.
