Wee, off work an hour early! Anyway, on to things.

Day 20 - A song that you listen to when you're angry )

In other news, I finally got my posting date for [livejournal.com profile] heroes_bigboom! It's supposed to be on the twenty-eighth, so I'm going to private-post all twelve chapters on my journal sometime this weekend. I think that should let me avoid dropping a spam bomb on other people's f-lists in four days' time. I'm pretty excited about it, I'd say it's a pretty good fic. I'll be glad to have it completely done with at least.

I've been having more fun with Photoshop. I figured out how to use the lasso tool! At least a little.

See, that's what I was going for, really. I've also been abusing radial gradients, making little color blobs where no color blobs should be. One thing I can't figure out though- how do you get one picture to blend into another? I know you can decrease the opacity of one layer what's below it shows through, but how do you, say, make the layer below show through on one side of the picture but not on the other? I was hoping it was in the gradients, but I don't think it is. Hrm.

Yarr, I be in the midst o' makin' a fine beef stew fer the enjoyment o' me and the crew, and a lengthy simmerin' time gives me leave ta' be gettin' on with my lj duties on this most lovely of Talk Like a Pirate Days.

Day 15 - A song that describes you )

Aside from the day's musical offerin', me reunion with yon wondrous Photoshop has brought about the creation of a small brood o' icons fer the most honorable and ship-shape o' television programs, Sherrrlock. Should one 'r more catch yer fancy, do be obliged to plunder at will, but let it be known the makerrr o' the piece, or face the edge o' my blade presently.

Hey, folks, what's up? Not too much for me- I'm overbooked on memes and fic, busy at work- but I've seen some cool things since my last post- or rather, [livejournal.com profile] zombres has shown me some cool things, and I feel like sharing.

Check this out. The climax of the radio play War of the Worlds done in typography:

How cool is that? ... Okay, maybe not that cool, but I like it. Here are other movie moments done in typography, if you're interested. Iron Man and V for Vendetta are a couple other pretty great ones.

Also, normally I prefer not to speculate on the early/private lives of famous people, but a lot of these photos are really worth taking a look at. They're pretty remarkable, if only for a few in a "Wow, I had no idea those two/more people ever existed in the same place long enough to have their picture taken" kind of way.

Okay, I better get at least one of the memes I've signed up for out of the way:

Icon meme RULES:
1. Reply to this post, and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee. Whoo!

I've been thinking of overhauling my icons, but I know I'd just miss the ones I have too much )

I got a family birthday party going on tomorrow (it covers mine on the 24th and my grandfather's on the 23rd, we're an economical bunch over here), so I ought to get this done now. An embarrassingly long time ago, I saw a gorgeous little picspam for the movie Amelie. So gorgeous, in fact, that it caught the attention that wily icon muse of mine. So here's what I came up with.

Icon time!

Okay, so, yeah, aside from the whole awards thing, I found this amazing picspam for the Ninth Doctor a little while back, and that stirred up the icon muse but good. So using the screencaps in that picspam (with permission), I made a batch. Here are the results:

Cropped and futzed with the gorgeous picture of Brit Morgan and Natalie Morales that's recently made the rounds.

I'm so proud of me. I used, like, layers for these. And the burn tool. And I figured out how to tilt letters! Very exciting.

Holy crap, it's late.

We-ell, I done did it again. Made an icon, that is. What can I say? I just love it when they make faces. This is Private Detective Emerson Cod from Pushing Daisies making fun of Ned the Piemaker's mother-hennish tendencies in the first episode of the second season.

Tried adding some text this time. Complete quote: "I thought you were gonna start squawking about how daaangerous it'd be to go back. Squawk squawk." Use with credit, please!

In other news, I finally bought The Brendan Hines' album Good News for You Know Who. Dunno when I'll get to listen to it, but oh well, I have it, along with some songs off Pulp's album Different Classes that I'm having mixed feelings about. We'll have to see. First things first. That is, [livejournal.com profile] englishmuffin2's Plaude round robin comment-ficathon, and, if I have time, studying for that computer test I have tomorrow. Ye-eah.

Hey hey, look what I did! Made me an icon, yes I did. I bought the Middleman episode "The Clotharian Contamination Protocol" a little while back, and decided today that I liked Tyler's expression while he was trying to divine the lava lamp flashcard during his Fatboy training so much, I had to icon it. Nothing fancy, just cropped the image. I need a Middleicon anyway, and it's actually good practice for the skillz I'm acquiring in my Basics of Computing class- screen capture and whatnot.

Doesn't he look like an evil hypnotist from a black and white horror flick or something? Wicked. And I'm so glad I could fit his little forelock in there. Anyway, if anyone else wants it, go ahead, but I'll take the credit, thanks much.

Also, ran across this little web-gem today on my usual trawling:
Fandom Jack-o-Lanterns. FTW.
I wish I'd been more creative with my jack-o-lanterns as a kid. I don't think I got any more wild than sticking fangs on 'em. But I love when other people do like 3-D images with shadows and all that. Amazing.

Okay, off to re-watch "The Palindrome Reversal Palindrome" because paper? What pap- oh, that. Please, I've got, like, at least a week to do that! No problem!
