New tea!

Aww yeah, green tea, cherry flavor. Well, y'know, cherry plus stuff to make it sound classy. It's actually called Cherry Moon, which is nice and evocative. And I got this other kind, called Chanticleer Breakfast Tea, which basically seems to be tea-flavored tea. I appreciate that. I had a cup this morning and it was very pleasant. Eastern Shore Tea Company- look 'em up. Really nice teas, never bitter, always tasty, you can order online and get your tea in a few days. I also recommend Baltimore Clipper Ship Tea, Black Raven Tea, and (if you can find it) Chestertown Tea. Tea doesn't look like a word anymore.

So, I'm going to the eye doctor tomorrow, because it's been quite a while since my last check-up, and also because I'm seriously thinking about getting my vision corrected. With a laser. I think eighteen years is long enough dealing with my piss-poor vision. If the doctor says it's okay, I'm probably going to go for it.

On the movie front- because I really talk about movies a lot, don't I, oh well- I'm going to be carving out some time for There Will Be Blood. That's a movie I'm watching more just to have watched it than because I really want to. And these days I have a fondness for Paul F. Tompkins, so I was more motivated to move it along in the queue than I might have been. Also, I can't decide if I want to see Cabin in the Woods and/or The Pirates! Band of Misfits, or let them wait for DVD. I could kind of use a stay-around-the-house weekend- do some cleaning, do some writing. It's been a while since I really cooked anything. It would be nice. Weather's supposed to suck anyway. Hm.

And finally, another one of these! 6 – When you write, do you prefer writing male or female characters?

Woof, that's a tough question. Having written a slash OTP on an already male-dominated show for almost... five years now (!!!), I have genuinely felt guilty for how few female characters I've attempted. To the point where, during Stories, in the End, I actually had a moment of realization that there were more female characters than male. And I felt kinda proud of myself.

*sigh* Whatever, honestly, maybe this is a cop-out, but the best I can do is write what the story tells me to. As long as the story gets told, I don't see much point stressing over the characters' genders.

And now I'm noticing this question is deeply tied to the gender binary, which I don't particularly subscribe to. And now I feel guilty I haven't ever written any queer or trans or intersex or non-gendered characters. Fabulous.

I had some tea this morning. It wasn't really worth it.

Ugh, weather's supposed to suck this weekend? Fantastic. I have to drive a ton and then work on Sunday. Blerg. Maybe I'll get some writing done too, but it seems doubtful. I'm going to try and do the V for Vendetta picspam, at least.

I still have to answer that question for that meme.

Wrong tea, then.

Actually, looking at it now, the forecast has significantly improved. Yay, V for Vendetta picspam!

I'm looking forward to the fun ones about music and titles and whatnot.

It was orange something? I guess it wasn't terrible.

Yay! I'm half working on it right now, but Law and Order/Community is distracting me. MY CHILDHOOD. L&O is like the number one reason I decided to become a lawyer.

Orange pekoe? That can get bitter, but I like it okay.

Woohoo! Heh, really? I never watched L&O. Only started watching CSI in college.

I don't think so. It wasn't bitter, it was just eh.

It was like pitch-perfect. The lady they had as the medical examiner actually played a medical examiner on L&O Classic (which is the only one I bothered watching). And the last-minute phone call was something that happened pretty often too. And even Abed and Troy's outfits as the cops (and awww, "Why do they always run?") was soooo Lennie Briscoe/Ed Green. Oh and Shirley was the perfect Lt. Anita Van Buren.

Well, okay, there's only so much you can expect from tea. If I must be brutally honest, anything above "eh" is pretty darn good.

The medical yam examiner might have been my favorite part.

Wow, between the Mad Men references on 30 Rock and the L&O extravaganza on Community, this night on NBC has really felt like it was just for me.

I hope your doctor brings you good news with this.

Oh god, so dilated... The world is in soft focus! *squints*

Well, on the up side, my eyesight has stabilized, which is pretty big news. And, for reverse bragging rights, a doctor has told me I'm functionally blind without my glasses. So, there's that. On the down side, I need to go to another office next week to get my corneas measured before any zapping takes place.

At least you will be able to get the procedure done. That's great news! I'm happy for you. :) How long will it take once your corneas have been measured?

Well, it's not for sure yet, the corneas need to be measured. Then, it's like, apparently there are two different things that can be done, that will have the same effect- I dunno. We'll see.

'there will be blood' is a really good movie. a little slow-paced, but an intense character study.

Yeah, that's what I'm figuring it will be. I'm not sure why I haven't watched it sooner.

I am SO HAPPY to see someone else recognizing the joy that is Eastern Shore Tea Company. They sold their teas at the Amish market in Easton that I went to frequently, and I always went straight to their section first. Their Black Raven tea is the best.

I really haven't had a bad tea from them yet. I got nervous, because the store I usually buy from closed, but getting it online was super easy and quick. Though they don't have Chestertown Tea online, which is annoying.
